Depending on the student’s age, it it sometimes advisable to learn recorder prior to studying saxophone, although this is not always essential.
Each player has their own distinctive tone, warmth & intonation. We teach our students sight reading, music theory and technique, all through a range of musical styles.
Mezzo students have the option to sit graded examinations in saxophone, facilitated by both the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music syllabi. Exams take place during 3 sessions each year; Spring, Summer & Autumn. Exams are held in Mezzo Music Academy, with an independent adjudicator from the relevant exam board.
